Meet the Go-to Tech Support, Solomon

“The best part about my job is the team! Even though it’s already been two months, I still get excited to get up every day and go to work.”

Meet the super talented and super strong IT support, Solomon.

Solomon is our go-to guy when it comes to tech support, from connecting devices and mapping networks to installing & updating systems and so much more.

After graduating with a diploma in IT in 2020, he was part of the unemployed youth for months. As one can imagine, it became exhausting after a very long while of sending out job application after job application. He became demotivated as he still strived to get a job all the while being a freelance carpenter.

Fast forward about 15 months later, you can imagine how thrilled he was when he became an official member of the team, signing his first ever contract.

“Coming here [to SNS Tech] I’ve learnt so much. We’re privileged to have access to resources that help us learn. So when I’m not busy on the big projects I find time to go online and learn as much as I can. In this industry where it’s constantly evolving we always have to keep up to date with the times and with technology.”

Originating from the big village in the nation’s capital, Hanuabada, he still finds time to be active when he’s not out and about providing tech support to SNS Tech and its clients. You will most likely find the young man out at sea fishing, doing carpentry work at home or even lifting weights at his local gym.

“It’s actually really good,” he smiles as he talks about his pastime. “I’m not someone who’s comfortable being in front but powerlifting has helped me build my confidence just being out in public and it helped me identify my limitations.”

Solomon has sound advice for young Papua New Guineans.
“Keep learning and keep improving yourself every day. Don’t rely solely on your certification – always keep learning. And be around good people who will help and encourage you. My dad would tell me: you show me your friends and I’ll tell you your future. So basically you become the company you keep.”
