As a Web Developer at SNS Tech, based in Port Moresby, you will develop, enhance, and maintain WordPress-based websites and related web applications across client and internal projects. You will work closely with senior developers, designers, and project managers to deliver front-end and back-end functionality, maintain code quality, site performance, and ongoing updates.
This role is suited to a developer with practical WordPress experience who can independently deliver assigned development tasks and website workstreams while continuing to build capability within a structured delivery team.
Technical Development
- Build, update, and maintain WordPress websites, including custom themes and basic plugin customisation.
- Develop and customise websites using Elementor and other approved WordPress page builders.
- Configure and customise WooCommerce functionality where required.
- Develop responsive front-end layouts using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.
- Implement PHP and MySQL-based functionality within WordPress environments.
- Implement and support website integrations including contact forms, third-party plugins, APIs and payment gateways.
- Carry out content updates, template changes, and feature enhancements based on approved requirements.
- Write clean, readable, and maintainable code aligned with team standards.
- Test, debug, and resolve issues across browsers and devices.
- Manage website performance, security updates, and routine maintenance tasks.
Deployment and Infrastructure
- Follow established development workflows, including version control, staging, and deployment processes.
- Support website deployments, migrations, backups, SSL configuration, DNS changes and hosting-related activities.
- Apply website performance optimisation, security, technical SEO, Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) and AI Search Optimisation requirements as part of development and maintenance.
Project & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with designers and senior developers to translate designs into functional web pages.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to gather and understand technical and business requirements.
- Estimate assigned development tasks and deliver agreed work within project timelines.
- Provide clear progress updates and maintain accurate task status throughout the development lifecycle.
- Maintain assigned tasks, progress, deadlines and delivery status accurately in JIRA.
- Maintain appropriate technical documentation and complete development handover notes for assigned work.
- Escalate technical issues, risks, or blockers early to the Web Development Lead.
- Learn and apply best practices in development, deployment, and version control systems.
Education & Certifications
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent demonstrated professional experience and relevant technical certifications will also be considered.
- Certifications in web development or relevant technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, PHP) from platforms such as Coursera, Udemy, or edX are an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on web development experience, with demonstrated WordPress development capability preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of PHP and MySQL in a WordPress context.
- Solid front-end skills in HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript for interactive functionality and UI behaviour.
- Experience working with custom WordPress themes, Elementor or comparable page builders, and WordPress plugins.
- Experience with Drupal or other enterprise CMS platforms is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of WooCommerce configuration and customisation.
- Experience with website forms, third-party integrations, APIs and payment gateway integrations is an advantage.
- Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
- Practical understanding of website hosting, domains, DNS, SSL, backups, staging environments and website migrations.
- Understanding of website performance optimisation, security practices, technical SEO, Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), AI Search Optimisation, structured data and schema markup.
- Experience working with structured project delivery, JIRA or comparable task management tools, QA/UAT and development workflows.
- Practical understanding of programming languages and frameworks relevant to the company’s technology stack.
