Wesley’s personal playbook: Communication & Data for business development growth

They say life begins at home, and for Wesley, that couldn’t be truer. His eyes sparkle when he talks about his kids, who’ve become his greatest source of purpose and motivation. “They push you to your most extreme,” he smiles, “things you never thought you could do!”   While some might call him a full-time dad and part-time business development specialist, Wesley’s infectious energy speaks for itself. The same passion he pours into his family spills over into his role at SNS Tech.   But how does Wesley bridge the gap between fatherhood and business development? Here, he breaks it down with a smile. Imagine a bustling marketplace. The “table mama” is your salesperson, expertly hawking her wares. But her success relies on the “kaikai” grower, the marketer behind-the-scenes, ensuring there’s a steady supply of what customers crave.   “Business development,” Wesley explains, “is like that perfect balance between the two. Understanding customer needs from the frontlines and the business requirements from the back. It’s about finding that sweet spot in the middle.”   And Wesley’s journey has taken him to both ends of the spectrum. He’s honed his sales skills on the frontlines, then delved into the strategic depths of marketing on the backend. Now, he’s found his calling in the dynamic world of business development, where he can leverage his unique perspective.   “I’m in the right spot now,” he says confidently, just over three months into his role where he’s already making waves. Despite only being with the team for that long, Wesley is thriving. His days are filled with analyzing businesses and their trajectories, as well as connecting with people, a natural strength for this avid communicator.   “I think of myself as a communicator first, before anything,” Wesley says. “Because I feel like I can communicate with people at all levels.”   Challenges are seen as opportunities for growth. “I don’t understand all the technical aspects yet, but that’s what I love,” he admits. Technology in Papua New Guinea presents a similar challenge-opportunity dynamic.  “It keeps us on our toes,” he says, “We keep learning and evolving with it.”   This love of learning extends to data, a subject that now fascinates him despite his past dislike of math.  “Everything is numbers!” he exclaims, recalling his experience at a mobile phone network provider. “Data is more than just revenue; I want to get into the technical aspects of it.”   Building a Network for Success   Wesley offers valuable advice for career development: Network! “Build connections on LinkedIn, and don’t limit yourself to your industry,” he urges. “You never know when someone’s expertise might be useful. You’ll thank yourself later for getting to know people from different areas.”

The revamped site – www.ncsl.com.pg – boasts an optimized, modern user interface that streamlines the user experience and incorporates cutting-edge technology to enhance functionality and accessibility. Key features of the new NCSL website include: Intuitive and user-friendly design: The website is now easier to navigate and find information, with a focus on clear layout and accessibility. Integrated loan and savings calculators: Users can now easily calculate their potential loan repayments or savings goals directly on the website. Loan application availability: Members can now apply for loans on the website without logging into their Member Online Portal. It also features a loan calculator to assist members make their financial decision. This saves time and effort creating a friendly experience for NCSL members. Updated information: All information on the website is now current and accurate, ensuring users have access to the latest details about NCSL’s products and services. Industry-leading technology: The website utilizes artificial intelligence and cloud-based services to automate processes, improve customer service, and reduce wait times. This includes an interactive virtual assistant (chatbot). Data analytics and reporting: NCSL can now leverage data analytics to gain valuable insights into customer behaviour and optimize their website and service offerings. Jacob Oii, SNS Tech Technical Development Lead, stated, “The NCSL project presented an enormous task to provide not only an optimized, modern user interface that was able to detail the reputation the organization has strived to build through setting significant service standards but integrate multiple platforms that utilize industry standard practices and technological frontiers in artificial intelligence and cloud-based services to streamline and improve the customer experience. “Our main goal was to increase automation, customer satisfaction, directed support by decreasing customer wait time and response errors by data and report analysis.” Maranuf Tataeng, NCSL Chief Member Services Officer (CMSO), noted that while it is still too early to fully gauge the impact of the website, engagement has been favourable since the launch. “It is too early to fully appreciate but the last 30 days’ reach and engagement with our members has been very positive. We have received positive feedback from our members, key stakeholders and public alike. Our login counts in the first three days after launching hit 4,000+.” Maranuf added, “Besides the great expertise that SNS Tech offers, I would say the customer-centric attitude that SNS staffs, particularly Jacob, have displayed with us, was a key driver in delivering a top website that exceeded our expectations. Also, SNS Tech has very good techies who could easily understand our non-technical, financial languages and deliver to expectations.” SNS Tech is committed to providing ongoing technical support and assistance to NCSL as they continue to grow and evolve. Digital Marvel: Tapioca Delight’s Automated Quest

Valuable client to SNS Tech and thriving catering and hospitality SME, Tapioca Delight, has reached new heights with the recent adoption of digital transformation and launch of the order management system (OMS). The work delivered by SNS Tech included a complete IT audit, followed by the implementation of MS365 to allow increased collaboration, productivity and more security. Additionally, implementing order, customer & financial management, payment processing and systems integration, allowing a more streamlined workflow, automation and transparency. The importance of adopting digital transformation and implementing the OMS means internally collaboration is made easier, and they can also communicate more effectively externally. Moreover, their systems and data are secure and meet business regulatory requirements, with tasks completed efficiently and automated where relevant. Integrating the e-commerce platform (WooCommerce), Point of Sales system and the Xero accounting software system, ensures that the connection between these different systems are seamless and allows for more streamlined operations for Tapioca Delight. SNS Tech Web Developer, Zira Saonu, and Technical Lead in the OMS implementation described the work and collaboration as challenging yet very worthwhile. “The project was not without its share of challenges; however, witnessing locally owned businesses like Tapioca Delight derive tangible benefits from the technological solutions we offer is the greatest reward.” “Ensuring precise data mapping and synchronization between the Xero Accounting Software and the WooCommerce e-commerce platform is not a simple undertaking. We navigated the complexities of handling different payment methods, order details, delivery costs, and tax compliance in both WooCommerce and Xero, ensuring that they align with the appropriate account codes within the client’s Xero Chart of Accounts,” Zira explains. Seeing the need to improve productivity and optimize workflows, innovative entrepreneurs and Tapioca Delight owners, Ginia and Sioni Sialis, adopted a new approach. “Prior to the OMS project we maintained paper order forms and handwritten receipts for walk in clients which had to be manually recorded and scanned. These records were then manually typed on an Excel spreadsheet and manually entered on Xero for reconciliation. Now everything can be captured on the Point of Sale via the mobile phone or PC and these records sync to the Xero Accounting Software we use, therefore removing the manual work. Reconciling is then done from these records,” Ginia elaborates. The connection between WooCommerce, an e-commerce platform, and an accounting software system is that they can all be integrated with each other. This means that data can be shared between the systems, which can help businesses streamline their operations and improve their efficiency. “It was great working with Ginia and the team. They are very dedicated to learning how the OMS will improve their workflows and provided assistance during the testing phase. They played a major part in the lifecycle of the project and I really appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules sorting out customer orders to assist us with OMS-related work,” says Zira. “I’d also want to extend my gratitude to accountants at KTK Accountants and Tapioca Delight for their assistance in ensuring accurate data mapping and synchronization are shown on Xero,” she expresses. Tapioca Delight has championed this territory for local SMEs – a shining example and a source of encouragement for most, if not all. By investing in the adoption of digital transformation and OMS implementation SMEs can improve efficiency, productivity, customer satisfaction, and overall business success. “An OMS and an Accounting Software like Xero need to go hand in hand, especially for home-based businesses to have a professional edge and to keep good financial records that are important for Accounting, Financing and Tax purposes. CareerTrackers PNG Upgrades Technology for Enhanced Student Support and Operational Efficiency

CareerTrackers PNG Inc. is a non-profit program with a vision to provide opportunities for all students in Papua New Guinea, regardless of background, to convert their degrees into successful careers. They also aim to give PNG businesses broad access to qualified, business-savvy graduates. CareerTrackers PNG had partnered with SNS Tech to transition their email hosting and set up their own domain name. This has boosted morale by allowing them to move off personal Gmail addresses. Having their own domain provides greater brand recognition, control, security, and scalability. Following this successful project, CareerTrackers PNG was also able to establish a Reelae School & Learning Management System. This system will enable better training and support for students in their program. CEO Ellenor Iutiko says, “Overall, it was a positive and professional service experience. Internally, it has boosted morale as we are no longer operating on our personal Gmail addresses. Secondly, having our own domain name will allow us to set up the Reelae School & Learning Management System needed for our operations and later set up a webpage. Overall, any challenges were addressed efficiently and effectively by the team.” This partnership has equipped CareerTrackers PNG with better communication and efficiency tools to serve their students and partners. It has been a constructive collaboration for the organisation, as well as SNS Tech.
