Tech careers should never feel off-limits to young women. Recently, our very own Zira Saonu made sure of that. She proudly represented SNS Tech and the IT industry at the “I Build My Pathway” speed networking session, hosted by the RISE program in Port Moresby.
This session gathered career women from diverse industries, offering high school students a rare chance to ask direct, practical questions about the careers they dream of pursuing. Instead of formal presentations, it was about real conversations, relatable experiences, and advice they could immediately put into action.
During her session, Zira answered questions about what a typical day in IT looks like, the skills and certifications that open doors in the industry, and how to handle both the highs and challenges of working in tech. She encouraged the students to stay curious, take bold steps, and build strong, adaptable mindsets.
Following the session, Zira reflected on the experience, saying, “It was an amazing experience speaking to young girls about the insights of the field, the mindset and desire you must have to stand out, and the growth of IT in the near future. I wanted them to leave knowing there’s a place for them in this industry, and a clear pathway to get there.”
We take great pride in seeing one of our own contributing to initiatives that not only inspire the next generation, but also drive us to continue creating meaningful opportunities for young women in technology.
