Before a website goes live, before a single line of code is finalised, there’s a crucial step that sets the tone for everything that follows – prototype development. In web development, a prototype is a visual and interactive mock-up of a website or web app. It’s not fully functional, but it shows how things will look and flow. Designers and developers use tools like Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch to build clickable versions of pages, menus, and user journeys. Why does this matter? Because prototypes allow clients to visualise the look and functionality of their website, help teams and clients spot issues early, test ideas, and make changes before investing time in full development. For example, during a recent dashboard project, our team discovered through prototyping that users preferred a sidebar menu over a top navigation bar. That insight saved hours of redesign later. Prototype development is about clarity, collaboration, and smart planning. It’s the first draft that helps ensure the final product is not just functional but intuitive and user-friendly.
