As a Web Developer, based in Port Moresby, you will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of WordPress-based websites and related web applications across client and internal projects. You will work closely with senior developers, designers, and project managers to deliver front-end and back-end functionality, maintain code quality, and support ongoing site performance and updates. This role is suited to a developer with 1–2 years of hands-on WordPress experience who is ready to grow within a structured delivery team.
Technical Development
- Build, update, and maintain WordPress websites, including custom themes and basic plugin customisation.
- Develop responsive front-end layouts using HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript.
- Implement PHP and MySQL-based functionality within WordPress environments.
- Carry out content updates, template changes, and feature enhancements based on approved requirements.
- Write clean, readable, and maintainable code aligned with team standards.
- Test, debug, and resolve issues across browsers and devices.
- Support website performance, security updates, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Follow established development workflows, including version control, staging, and deployment processes.
Project & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with designers and senior developers to translate designs into functional web pages.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to gather and understand technical and business requirements.
- Support task estimation and delivery against agreed timelines.
- Provide clear progress updates on assigned tasks.
- Assist with documentation of technical changes and handover notes.
- Escalate technical issues, risks, or blockers early to the Web Development Lead.
- Learn and apply best practices in development, deployment, and version control systems.

Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, or a related field. Equivalent experience or technical certifications will also be considered.
- Certifications in web development or relevant technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, PHP) from platforms such as Coursera, Udemy, or edX are an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on WordPress development experience.
- Strong working knowledge of PHP and MySQL in a WordPress context.
- Solid front-end skills in HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
- Basic JavaScript knowledge for interactive and UI behaviour.
- Experience working with custom WordPress themes and page builders.
- Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
- Working knowledge of web development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Practical understanding of programming languages and frameworks relevant to the company’s technology stack.
